The Only Place for Hoagies & Sandwiches
by LisaSmith14
Steve & Irene's is my favorite place to get great sandwiches at exceptional prices. I honesty don't think I can make an Italian hoagie at home for the cost of what
they charge. Tons of meat, fresh bread, crisp veges! The Italian Hoagie is one of my favorites along with their hamburgers and cheesesteaks (I highly recommend the Pittsburgh Cheesesteak)
They also have specials that they swtich out monthly. I just had their pulled pork sandwich topped with cole slaw-YUM! I had yet to order the "Saucy Dog" but someday I
will try it.
The staff is always friendly and accomodating when you call and pick up your food. Delivery is also available to the surrounding area.
If you are anywhere near Mayfield, this is THE place to go for sandwiches. It's definitely worth the trip.
- Pros: Excellent Food, Super Friendly Service & Great Prices
- Cons: Not always heathy but ALWAYS delicious!

The Best
Diner from Scranton • Matthew
The best sandwiches around. Amazing variety, great prices, a wonderful staff. This place even takes bizarre custom orders from picky customers
(namely me and the Cajun chicken ranch with bacon and fried onions). This place is easily missed by most, it's a hole in the wall joint but believe me you can't find a better place to get a sub. Tons
of cheesesteaks, lots of homemade recipes including pulled pork, porchetta, chicken fajita and much more. The rolls are wholesome, soft, and when toasted have a delicious crunch. Overall, after
eating subs up and down the east coast, Steve & Irene's is... a FANTASTIC little secret in a small town with the absolute best hoagies. If you haven't had a sub from here...you haven't had
a real sub yet. P.S TRY THEIR CAJUN FRIES!!!!!!!

Seriously, the best local place for hoagies, can’t be beat.Large variety of both hot and cold hoagies, I personally love their salads! Portions are large, EAT
HERE!
Date of visit: August 2018
I grew up eating Steve and Irene's hoagies and they have never let me down. I have yet to find another hoagie shop that beats this place.
I have tried many of their hoagies throughout the years and I have always been impressed. My family's favorite has been the Steak and Cheese Special. Two of my favorites are the Italian and the
California Steak and Cheese. The menu features a very wide selection of hoagies, so you are bound to find something to fulfill your cravings. The wings are also very good, my favorite is the honey
mustard!
I have never once in all the years I have been ordering from here eaten at the shop, it is definitely more of a place to get take out. The building is very small with not much space to eat inside.
They now have online ordering, which helps to make the whole take out process a breeze.
The prices are great especially for the amount of food you get. A large hoagie is 2 feet long and priced between $10 - $15. I'm always sure to make a stop here when I come to NEPA. I highly recommend
you give it a try!
PS: To all my Philly friends, yes, in NEPA it is called a steak and cheese, not a cheesesteak!
